There are two ways of generating a vocabulary exercise.
1) Via a Quiz
Select Add Quiz > Generate Vocabulary Training.
2) Via an AI Dialogue
Create an AI dialogue using the template "Vocab Training".
Vocabulary Training via Quiz
With this option, you can create up to eight types of vocabulary training. You can choose whether you wish to draw on translation from the source language (L1) or whether the training should be conducted entirely in the target language (L2).
How do I generate a Vocabulary Training?
Here's how it works: Click “+ Add Exercise,” then “Generate Vocabulary Practice”:
Please note that this feature is only available in language courses. If you don't see the feature, you can change your course subject in Settings.
Next, you will be asked about the learners' language proficiency level and their first language, L1.
In the next step, check the translations. This step is necessary to ensure that the intended meaning of each word is correctly captured in the system.
After that, you have the option to choose what type of vocabulary query should be automatically generated.
What are L1 and L2?
L1 refers to the language the learners already speak fluently, such as their national or mother tongue.
L2 refers to the language being learned.
I don't want to/can't use L1 in my language course
If there is no common L1 in the course, or if L1 is avoided for pedagogical reasons, you can simply omit the types of vocabulary queries that rely on translations into L1.
Tip: You can also use the teaching assistant to create a suitable vocabulary list. Just specify the topic area and language level (e.g., a vocabulary list for the topic "I am driving across Australia", language level B2).
Vocabulary training via AI dialogue
Vocabulary training via AI dialogue is even more flexible and open to all special requests. It uses the dialogue template "Vocabulary Training". Simply select it from the template menu.
