Brian has a wide range of analytics functions. Learning progress can be viewed under “Evaluation” or under “Students”.
What information can I find under "Evaluation"?
Under “Evaluation”, you can switch between the options “Students” and “Content”.
- Under “Students”, you will find the learning progress.
- Under “Content”, you will find a course analysis, i.e. an evaluation of the tasks (which ones are difficult, which ones are unpopular, etc.). See: Course analysis.
- Under “Evaluation”/“Students”, there are three viewing options: “Overview”, “Progress matrix” and “Ranking list”.
Overview
Under Overview, you will find a list of all students, with their progress, learning time, and a personalised estimate of how long these students will need to successfully complete all course content. You can also see when they were last active. (See image above.)
Tip: There are different symbols that indicate the "time remaining".
A rocket means that the learner is learning particularly quickly (compared to the class average).
An hourglass means that the learner is learning rather slowly.
A warning triangle means that the learner is learning quickly but very inaccurately and indicates that he or she is not properly engaging with the task.
Tip: You can jump directly into the exercise via the "Latest Exercise" section, e.g., into the dialogue history of an AI dialogue.
Progress matrix
The progress matrix allows you to quickly see who has completed which exercise and how successful they were. By hovering your mouse over the symbol, you can see what learning progress the symbol communicates. If no symbol is visible yet, it means that this exercise has not yet been started.
Ranking list
The ranking list ranks students according to the points they have earned and reflects the information that students see in the learning environment.
Points are independent of progress, as they can also be earned through social interaction or by repeating tasks (even without improving progress). They express the learners' engagement on the learning platform and are part of gamification.
Individual students
You can click on individual students at any time to see an overview of their performance. This is compared with the class average.
Individual exercises
In addition, you can click on each exercise completed by individual students. This shows their performance in the exercise, for example which questions were difficult or which aspects of an AI dialogue the students found challenging.
In AI dialogues, you can navigate step by step from the overview to the level of the individual dialogue.
What information can I find under "Students"?
In the Students view, I can click on an individual student to jump directly to the evaluation of their performance shown above.
Can I also download Brian's learning evaluation?
Yes. For a more in-depth analysis of students, the complete data set can be downloaded. This allows links to be created with your own database. Among other things, this enables you to:
- Integrate the use of Brian into the grading process.
- Draw conclusions from Brian about learning success.
- Easily archiving and storing the information.
How do I download the analytics data?
To download the data:
1. Click on "Evaluation" > "Students".
2. Click on the "CSV" button.
