How does Brian use gamification to motivate students?

for teachers 👩🏼‍🏫

Brian is a gamified learning app. This means that Brian's learning interface turns students into players whose learning success and perseverance are rewarded with points. Gamification has been proven to lead to greater self-motivation.

 

The gamified features of Brian include

  • Students choose player names
  • correct answers, productive interaction with AI dialogues, social learning in discussion forums are all rewarded with points
  • there is a leaderboard for each course
  • students can challenge other students in Brian's multiplayer mode
  • the sound and graphic design of the app is playful
 

At the same time as awarding points, Brian also shows students their actual learning success, i.e. how secure their knowledge is for each course unit. Many students don't let up until their success is at 100%.

In a nutshell: Brian is not a game, but a learning solution that motivates and rewards students.
