What is a course timeframe?

for teachers 👩🏼‍🏫

What is a course timeframe?

A course timeframe defines a period that determines from when to when a course cohort participates in this Brian course.

An example of a course timeframe would be class 2B 2025 (15.8.2025–31.12.2025). For class 2C 2025, I would create a separate course timeframe. This second timeframe can have the same calendar dates as class 2B or different ones – it doesn’t matter.

Thus, each course can have a variety of groups. For example, at a university there could be five parallel seminar groups “Introduction to Criminology”.

Important: When creating the course, an initial course time window is created automatically. This has the creation date as the course start date and no end date. These settings can be changed at any time.

How do course timeframes help me with course organization?

Course timeframes allow me to separate cohorts of students from each other, while at the same time enabling me to change, expand, and manage the course as a whole.

Course timeframes also make it possible to keep the same course over several years without having to copy it. A new course timeframe is created for this purpose. For example, you can simply create class 2B 2025 and class 2B 2026 and thus separate the new school year from the old one.

Where do I manage course timeframes?

Within a course, under “Settings.” There you can “Manage course periods.” Each course period has a name and a start date. It can also have an end date, or be created without an end date. Once the end date is reached, the course becomes inactive.

Switching Between Cohorts

Once a course has more than one term, you can switch between the different terms under “Learners” and “Analysis.” You will then see only the learners in the relevant cohort.
