Working with videos

for teachers 👩🏼‍🏫

Just like texts, YouTube videos can be turned into quizzes at the touch of a button.

To do this, simply click on “+ Add quiz” in the teaching environment. Choose the option “Use existing materials”.

Select the "Video" option in the top menu and then copy & paste the URL:

The video is then automatically embedded in the quiz and the AI creates questions based on the content of the video.

Troubleshooting: I have my own video that I’d like to upload to Brian.

At the moment, videos that are not available online cannot be uploaded to Brian.

But there’s a simple way to sidestep this problem. Your own videos can easily be uploaded to YouTube as "unlisted" (i.e. not searchable). Afterward, they can be embedded in Brian as described above.

This (German language) video shows you how it’s done:

Troubleshooting: My video was not accepted.

If a video is not accepted by the system, it is because no transcript is anchored in it. In this case, you must first have your video transcribed.

The following tools are freely available:

  • Vibe (app for download)

Once you have a transcription of the video or audio recording, carry out the following steps:

  • Click on the “Course content” tab
  • Create a new quiz and select “Brian's AI and then "Use existing materials".
  • Select “Copy & Paste” and paste the video transcript. (i.e. not the video but the text)
  • A quiz is then automatically created based on the text of the video.

Tip: YouTube videos can be embedded directly in the topic description.
