Welcome to Brian
Brian is a learning app that your teacher has created specifically for your course. Brian helps you learn more successfully. Brian is gamified so that you have more fun learning and always know exactly how much you have already achieved.
Getting started
- Read this page to find out what exercises are available on Brian.
- Your teacher will invite you to their Brian course. You can either work on the Brian app on your smartphone or tablet, or in your browser (student.brian.study).
- Here, in this manual, you will find information about all the buttons and functions, as well as help if something is not working.
What types of exercises are there?
Here are the most important types of exercises on Brian:
Quizzes (e.g. multiple-choice questions)
- How it works:
- You select the correct answers. Each correct answer increases your progress
- The AI supports you, provides explanations, and is always there to help.
- You can also discuss each question with other learners in the same course or challenge them in multiplayer mode.
- You can use the filter function to combine quiz questions from different learning units or work with your favorites.
AI dialogues (e.g. maths problems or text analysis)
- How it works:
- An AI guides you through the task step by step. It acts like a tutor, helping you but also challenging you. Important: The AI expects you to try it yourself first before it helps. It doesn't do all the work for you.
- AI dialogues always have an end point. At the end of the task, you will receive detailed feedback, points and your learning progress.
- You can repeat the task at any time to improve your skills.
- How it works:
- The chatbot has been instructed by your teacher to interact with you in a specific way, e.g. to give you information or assistance.
- Chatbots are not tasks: there is no endpoint, no feedback, and no progress.
- Each chatbot is a specialist. If you have more general questions about the course content, please ask the AI tutor.
- How it works:
- You can access the AI tutor at any time and it will answer your questions.
- Your teacher may have contextualized the AI tutor. This means that the AI tutor has access to the course content and can quote directly from it.
