How do I enroll students in my course?

for teachers 👩🏼‍🏫

Students are invited to a course by clicking the "+ Enroll Students" button in "Students." 

Invitation Methods

Brian can be configured differently by each institution. Therefore, not all of the following invitation methods are visible to all teachers.

By Email

This method works best if a list of students' email addresses is available and if it is important to ensure that only authorized participants can join the course.

In the course, click on "Students", then on "+ Enroll Students". Select the "By Email" toggle in the wizard menu. The entire e-mail list can be copied over here. The students will then receive an e-mail invitation to Brian.

 

By Public Course Code

This method works best if there is no email list available or if students need to be invited to a course quickly.

In the course, go to "Students", then click "+ Enroll Students". In the wizard menu that opens, switch the toggle to "By Public Course Code". Then click on "+ Create Public Course Code".

The code that is created looks something like this: ar2de1. This can be written on the blackboard, for example, or publicised on a course LMS. At the same time, a QR code is created.

Students can enter this code in the app to join the course or simply scan the QR code to be directed to the course. See: How do I get access to my courses on Brian.

Important: The generated course code is not a login code for the app itself. It can only be used to access the course within the app.

 

By Course Code

This method is similar to the public course code (see above). The difference is that only learners who are logged into Brian with an email address from your institution can use this course code.

Follow the same steps outlined under "by public course code".

 

By School Directory (Users)

In the course view, click on “Students”, then on “+ Enroll Students”. In the wizard menu that opens, switch the toggle to “Via Directory” and choose "Students". Then select the name of the student(s) from the school directory and “Add to course”.

 

Tip: If the student's name is not in the school directory, the name can be added manually.

 

By School Directory (Group)

This method allows entire groups or classes to be enrolled in the course, so that each student does not have to be invited manually.

In the course, click on “Students”, then on “+ Enroll Students”. In the wizard menu that opens, switch the toggle to “Via Directory” and choose "Group". Then select the name of the group from the school directory and “Add to course”.
