How do I set up multiple classes in the same course?

for teachers 👩🏼‍🏫

The basic idea

You can use the same course with several classes or groups, for example with all parallel classes in a grade level or with several seminar groups. To do this, create a separate course timeframe for each class and enroll the students in the matching timeframe.

The course content, meaning Course Units, quizzes, and AI Dialogues, stays the same for all classes. Any changes you make to the course automatically apply to every class. Students and their results, however, remain separated by class.

You can use the same approach to keep a course over several years without having to copy it.

Create course timeframes

Open the course and click "Settings." Create a separate course timeframe for each class there and give it a clear name, e.g., "Class A," "Class B," and "Class C." The start and end dates can be the same for all classes.

Tip: When you create a course, a first course timeframe is set up automatically. You can rename it and use it for your first class.

Enroll students in the matching course timeframe

Go to the "Students" section. You will now see all the course timeframes you have created.

  1. Select a course timeframe, e.g., "Class A."
  1. Click "+ Enroll Students."
  1. Select "Via Directory" and "Group," find the matching class, and click "Add to course."
  1. Repeat these steps for the other course timeframes.

Important: Make sure the correct course timeframe is selected before you enroll students. Students are always enrolled in the timeframe that is currently selected.

To enroll entire classes via the directory, they need to be set up there as groups. See: How do I create a group? The directory is only available with a Brian license and can't be used in test mode.

You can also invite students to a course timeframe by email or course code. You can find all enrollment methods here: How do I enroll students in my course?

View results for each class separately

Since each class has its own course timeframe, you can also view each class's results separately.

To do this, click "Analysis" [PRÜFEN: UI-Begriff] and select the course timeframe you want. You will then only see the students enrolled in that timeframe, with their progress, learning time, progress matrix, and leaderboard. To view the next class, simply switch to another course timeframe. This also works in the "Students" section.
